Grout Invitational 10/4/08
The Boys Varsity race in the Grout Run on Saturday (10/4/08) offered a view of Shaker’s future. The four top seniors were missing for the S.A.T. testing which provided a great opportunity for the top Frosh runners to move up to the Varsity race. The team was led across the finish by juniors Eric Young (8th) and Ryan Egan (12th). They were joined by other medal winners Mike Libruk (18th), Kyle Foster (24th) and Ryan Recchia (28th) in helping the Shaker team to a 3rd place finish in the Division 2 race. In the JV Boys race, Shaker finished 4th of 20 teams as all five scorers earned medals for their performances. They ran a tight time gap of only 33 seconds for the 1-5 runners. JV Medal winners were Dave Marthy, Jeff Heim, Dylan Hedderman, Brian Enright and Dan McGrail. The remainder of the Frosh Boys who ran in the team race who earned medals were Adam Schwenzfeier, Caleb Mellon, Brian Hickey and Jackson Ciavardoni.
Shaker Girl's Summary (by Katy Sniffen): The Shaker girl’s Varsity team took second place overall with Emma Risler in 5th, Morgan Wojtusik in 10th, Zosia Dunn in 13th, Kate Martel in 21st, and Molly Nephew in 25th. Our Junior Varsity team placed 2nd overall also, with Leah Nazarian in 1st, Christine Hall in 6th, Marissa McIntyre in 9th, Julia McCane in 11th, Tirzah Ziegler in 12th, Nicole Weigman in 16th, and Jennifer Jin in 18th. Our JV Unlimited team took 1st. Placing within the top 25 were Gabriella Ciavardoni, Natana Gordon, Eileen Jin, Melissa Ashley, Kari Huneau, Laura Hines, Taylor Moore, Kaitlyn Deluca, Emily Hughes, Nicole Cillis, and Brianna Bhola. Freshman scoring took 1st, with Laura Libruk, Kayleigh Lavender, Kristen Moras, Jackie Heim, Meg Deguire, Jessica Dzialo, and Kristen Hayes placing within top 30. The Freshman Unlimited also took 1st with Faith Risler, Emily Franko, Danielle McLean, Erin Kisselback, Christine Brown, Megan Martel, Jenna Baker, Kara Olstad, Lauren Mahoney, and Maura Fitzgerald placing within the top 20.
